The average workpiece is held in place using two clamping points—one on each end of the workpiece—to ensure stability during machining. However, in some cases, a third clamping point may be necessary to prevent deformation or movement during the machining process. As your trusted CNC machine builder and supplier of workholding solutions, we’d be more than happy to help you implement third clamping points in your production line.
Benefits of Investing in a Third Clamping Point
Using a
can be particularly useful when machining long or slender workpieces, which are more susceptible to vibration and distortion. By providing an additional point of support, the third clamping point can help to minimize these issues and improve the accuracy and precision of the machining operation.Overall, the use of a third clamping point in machining can help to improve the stability and accuracy of the workpiece, leading to better quality and more efficient machining operations.
Product Features
We provide a third clamping point for roughing, finishing, and drilling operations of pieces fixed in a vertical position. Thanks to its rigid telescopic stem and its additional modular extensions, the third point supports workpieces and opposes vibrations and flexures caused by machining operations. This helps you avoid the use of expensive, heavy, and bulky fastening brackets.
The third point can be fixed directly on plates or workpieces by means of standard TCEI screws or FAST MILL coordinate modules/risers. Alternatively, it can be fixed on machine T-shaped slots. In addition to fixing, thanks to its efficient fine adjustment system, it can be adjusted for the purposes of thrust or traction to ensure verticality of workpieces before their machining.
